Mix Tape of the Day: June 16, 2015 - The Best of Disney: The Silver Era (1996-2000)

Finishing of the '90s, I'm dubbing this era of Disney "Silver," seeing as how it was when Disney was finishing out it's powerful stride brought about by the Renaissance, making it comparable to Disney's Golden Era (which was the post-war Disney stuff).  While reviews of these films were mixed, the music is just as strong as the early '90s, thanks to Alan Menken remaining at the helm for most of them.  We end with The Emperor's New Groove in 2000 which turned from a standard musical into a non-musical in it's final stage, leaving most of the songs on the cutting room floor and thus starting the era of Disney's non-musical (and most would argue substandard) films of the 2000s.  (It was literally a decade of no musicals that ended with The Princess and the Frog in 2009.)
