Mix Tape of the Day: March 1, 2015 - The Who?

Wow, the Beatles, the Stones, and now the Who.  This has been quite the British Invasion week.  If you need a song to crank up in your car as you're reliving the glory days, the Who's got you covered.

The Stones had "Satisfaction," and the Who had "My Generation." A song that would define the band and introduce us to all the majesty of rock that would sweep the world.  I feel like all young generations can appreciate this one, however.

This Beatlesy sounding number is probably my favorite Who song.  I like that they added to the lyrics in live performances to show how much they've learned since being kids and still turning out "alright."

Sometimes live treats you like trash and you've got to just smile.

...Yep.  Moving along now...

This is just pure awesomeness.  Everyone in the music history books agree.

It's not the '60s if there isn't at least one song about a magic bus.

Only the Who could write a rock opera about a disabled pinball playing wunderkind and have it become the most famous rock opera of all time.

It's a shame that CSI and it's spinoffs have stolen all the great Who songs.  Now hearing this famous "Yeaaah" has become a jarring joke that takes you out of the song.  But try to put that behind you and experience the original glory.

The Who's classic song about the daily struggles of Bruce Wayne.

This song that is not called, "Teenage Wasteland," is another one from the Who's epic phase.  When a show or movie has the gall to play the whole intro, then you know you're in for a treat.

I was introduced to this song through the Adam Sandler movie of the same name, and it is a rightfully moving and crushing piece, worthy of making a film about.

Ah yes, good old classic innuendo.  Thank you, Freaks and Geeks, for reminding us all of the songs that kids and parents can enjoy (to argue about).

This is one of the last songs featuring the legendary Keith Moon, and so I felt it was right to end the mix here.  I know there is plenty more to come, but it seems like changes in band lineups always have a strong effect on a band's library in one way or another.
